Bipolar Treatment

Midwest Recovery Centers, located in Kansas City, Missouri, provides cost-effective and expert-guided bipolar treatment.

Reclaim Your Sense of Well-Being with Our Residential Bipolar Program

At Midwest Recovery Centers, we offer a three-phase treatment program for mental health disorders, including bipolar. Bipolar can be an incredibly distressing and disruptive mental health disorder, but it’s treatable and manageable with the proper approach.

Accredited & Licensed

Bipolar disorder leads to extremes in your emotions. You have periods where you’re high or euphoric, known either as mania or hypomania, and then there are periods of depression. There are different subtypes of bipolar disorder based on the severity of symptoms and how they are experienced.

It’s a complex disorder to treat because it’s common when you have bipolar disorder to have another co-occurring mental health condition. These co-occurring disorders include substance use disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and anxiety disorders.

At Midwest Recovery Centers, we understand the specifics of this disorder and the complications that can come with it.

Our treatment programs are holistic and integrate many different approaches to optimize recovery outcomes and help you build a life allowing you to thrive.

Holistic Bipolar Disorder Treatment

During your 45-day stay at our center, you’ll work with many different types of experts to ensure your mental, physical, and spiritual wellness are all cared for. Each treatment plan is built around the individual. Integrated treatment approaches at our center can include some or all of the following:
  • Talk therapy, like cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy.
  • Spiritual psychology.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
  • Process groups.
  • Experiential groups.
  • Hypnotherapy.
  • Art therapy.
  • Creative writing.
  • Mindfulness and yoga.
  • Fitness and exercise.
  • Nutritional and gut health therapy.
Treatment plans can also include, when appropriate:
  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive therapy for major depressive disorders. With TMS, a series of brief magnetic pulses are used in the areas of the brain linked to depressive disorders. It’s administered for five days a week over six weeks and ends within your 45-day mental health treatment program.
  • Light therapy is an effective treatment for both Seasonal Affective Disorder, also called seasonal depression, and postpartum depression.
  • Medication management is frequently part of our mental health program, and we approach this part of treatment with leading-edge science. At Midwest Recovery Centers, we use pharmacogenomics testing or PGx testing. This assesses your DNA to determine how you might process and respond to a certain medicine. We can also learn more about the potential side effects you could experience, ensuring you’re prescribed the most appropriate medicine for you.

How Does Our Bipolar Treatment Program Work?

At Midwest Recovery Centers, you stay onsite for 45 days with us, and you follow a step-down plan. This means you receive the most intensive treatment initially, and gradually, there’s more flexibility in the structure of your program as you’re ready. Eventually, you will be ready to re-acclimate to your home environment, empowered with the coping mechanisms you’ve learned during your time with us.

During our 45-day programs, you can expect the following:

  • An integrated team approach to your treatment includes therapists and counselors, medical doctors, nutritionists, and other healthcare experts.
  • Intensive therapy where you learn coping mechanisms and self-care.
  • An inclusion of naturopathic and holistic approaches.
  • An environment that’s safe and comfortable.
  • Preparation with strategies and tools to help you transition back to living independently.
  • Ongoing support from case managers and therapists after the completion of your 45-day program.

We work with patients and their families to help them overcome bipolar disorder symptoms and keep them well-managed.
